Senior Architectural Designer for Bearded Kitten/Mother
Project overview
The timing of Ramadan in 2026 meant sunset aligned with rush hour, leading to many Muslim commuters breaking their fast while travelling home from work.
To accommodate a more comfortable environment, IKEA tasked the creative agencies Mother and Bearded Kitten to create pop-up house installation to welcome guests to a collective Iftar experience.
I worked as the architectural and spatial designer with Bearded Kitten’s production team to bring the experiential element of this pop up to life, with close collaboration with AMALIAH and interior designer Noor Aliyah Ali.

Located in London’s Southbank and Manchester’s Exchange Square, the installation featured an exterior facade that resembled a section of a typical British terrace that was designed to be compact, causal and instantly recognisable.
Paying particular attention to detail, the simple brick frontage was complete with architectural fittings, everyday props and scenic weathering, evoking the warmth and familiarity of a residential neighbourhood in England.
Working closely with IKEA and Islamic cultural experts AMALIAH and interior designer Noor Aliyah Ali, I also developed the interior layout of the experience.
The cosy interior was designed to provide a warm backdrop to friends and strangers sharing their first food of the day in a comforting, familiar setting.
